Who doesn’t want little lace kitty faces scattered all over their socks? Well, no-one, that’s who! If you are a kitty person, anyway, lol. Declare your feline allegiance with these socks that sport subtle little lace motifs that resemble a kitty face, complete with the whiskers. A bit of a matching textural treatment at the cuff completes these lacy short socks. The seven kitty lace motifs surround the leg only (where it counts!)leaving the foot as stockinette.

These short socks are worked top down, with a traditional heel flap and a wide toe. Both could be easily modified without altering the lace motifs on the leg. The leg is ca. 6 ” from the cuff to the beginning of the heel flap. The kitty face lace motifs are given as a chart only. Since these socks are worked from the top down, the motif is charted as upside down. Those converting the pattern to toe up are invited to contact me for the right side up motif version. Two sizes are given: M/L and XL.

I recommend solid, light colored yarn. Variegated, tonal or speckled yarns will obscure the lace motifs. I knit with 5 DPNs (stitches evenly distributed on 4 needles and then work around with a 5th), but I have attempted to generalize my instructions for those who use alternate needle set-ups.
