This the Original Pocketed Wrist Distaff Pattern with a Knitted cuff (for the wrist) and a crocheted attached fiber pocket, which will hold the fiber being spun, to keep it out of harm’s way. This prevents the unspun fiber from becoming entangled with the spun singles. The reason for the TWO pockets is to also keep the fiber away from the skin.

Mine was done with Sockotta Limited by Plymouth Yarn. This is a fingering weight yarn that is 45% cotton, 40% wool and 15% nylon. You can use this yarn or pick any of your favorite fingering weight yarns. You will need aprox 50-60 yards of yarn to complete one Wrist Distaff.

  • Needles: Us sizes 3 (3.25mm), 2 (2.75mm)
  • Crochet Hook: US size C (2.5mm)
  • One small stitch marker of your choice.
  • Yarn needle to weave in ends and stitch fiber pocket end to cuff.

There are a total of three patterns…this one, which is half knitted/half crocheted…a completely knitted version…and a completely crocheted version.
