This is a basic knit rose. It is made with worsted-weight yarn, ideal as appliqué or for wearing as a brooch, however it could easily be adapted for both fine and heavy-weight yarns as well, with an adjustment for needle size.

Rose is worked flat with the cast-on edge as the outer edge of the “petals”. Work continues flat until decreases to form petal ruffle and base of flower. After bind-off, flower is arranged into a spiral and sewn together. Finished rose measures approximately 3.5 inches in diameter.

Materials:
1 Skein of Lion Brand Wool Ease in Ranch Red (1 skein will make approximately 10 roses) or any worsted-weight bright red yarn.
Size 6 straight or circular knitting needles (adjust size to fit your tension, if needed)
Yarn or large tapestry needle
Hot glue gun
