This technique is based on the idea of a garter tab cast on currently used for shawls and other patterns (like the sweater called: The Angel). For people who have never tried this technique, there are photos and step by step directions. This technique is used in the Cable Brannigan shawl which is knit in one piece with i-cord edging applied as you go, and grafted closed at the end of the project.
