Ten bias garter-stitch squares and 10 different cabled squares make up this checkerboard-style afghan. Each square is knit separately, then the pieces are sewn together and a border is picked up and knit.

Plenty of options abound for making this your own: choose multiple colors, or stick with one or two cable choices.

This is a multi-part pattern presented as a FREE Knit Along on two platforms: videos on Creativebug and text/blog at Red Heart Yarns. New squares will be made available each week.

Pattern calls for 8 skeins of Red Heart Soft, but you may want an extra for swatching.
