A knit shawl using big needles and beads. The only “purls” are the “pearls” that you use as beads. There are beads placed at the beginning/end of each row along the top long edge. If you do not wish to use beads, then there will be a row of yarn over eyelets across the top edge.

Materials needed are about 535-550 yards of fingering yarn, US size 9 knitting needles, at least 300 size 6 beads and a method to string the beads on the yarn. The beads are pre-strung on the yarn before you start knitting. The beads are slid into place on each yarn over at the beginning/end of each row on the long edge.

Three variations are given in the written pattern: (1) General pattern with beads. (2) General pattern without beads. (3) Pattern as pictured using beads and a set of gradient yarn.

You can make this shawl in one color or as many colors as you wish!
