There are quite a few crochet versions of BB-8 (from Star Wars: A Force Awakens) out there already, but for anyone like me who prefers knitting needles to the hook, this little guy is perfect for you!

Knitted colorwork in the round, however, is the worst!! So this pattern is simplified by exchanging intarsia in the round (yuck!) for the easy and fun duplicate stitch! A great reference for learning all about duplicate stitch is here: http://www.purlsoho.com/create/2007/10/28/duplicate-stitch/

Since this little guy is so small, he requires minimal yarn and is a good way to use up your stash!

Measurements: 6” tall x 4” wide

Gauge: Not important other than making sure your stitches are tight enough to firmly stuff your toy without a lot of stuffing peaking through!

UPDATE: I’ve made some adjustments to the head design and size here if you’d like to try another option.
