This is a general pattern for knitted rice bags. I used almost a complete skein of Lily Sugar’n Cream Twists, or approximately 100 yards. If you make them in other sizes, plan for 1.5 skeins for added yardage.

These rice bags are great for aches and pain. All you need to do is heat them up in the microwave for 2 minutes and place it where you hurt. It isn’t as effective as a prescription, but it can be a non-drug alternative in between your pain medications.

Cotton yarn should be used for this project. Cotton retains heat well and will not catch fire in the microwave.

Gauge is approximate and does not need to be exact.
Yardage is based on the general pattern. If modifying the pattern for a larger size, more yardage is required.

The pattern requires you to be able to sew a rectangle, but it does not need to be perfect and pretty because it will be hiding inside the knitted rice bag.
