Two-color stranded knitting. I found it fairly easy to knit so I think that if you are new to stranded knitting this shouldn’t be too hard for you. If you are experienced at stranded knitting, this will be a quick knit.

I used DK yarn, but worsted would also work well. The pattern includes a cowl and a hat. There is also a larger chart to give you an idea of how the pattern would look in another project, such as a tote bag or a pillow. I have knit the cowl, but not the hat. However, the hat is a basic beanie.

The inspiration comes from the time I spent looking at African fabrics online. I was looking at indigo fabric and I noticed that many of the Kuba fabrics included all sorts of diamond shapes, so I decided to make something with indigo blue and a soft contrast color and lots of diamonds traveling around the cowl.

After blocking, the cowl is 24 inches in circumference and 8.5 inches high. (60cm around, 21cm high)
