Kujeillen fingerless mittens were originally designed for LYS Lankakauppa Kuje. The pattern works best in solid or semisolid color. Right and left hand mittens are mirror images of each other.
Please note that the English version hasn’t been proof read or test knit. Any feedback is welcome!
May 4, 3013: an updated version has been uploaded as a few minor errors were found in the charts.
March 25, 2013: typing error was found in the Finnish pattern (right hand thumb gusset). A corrected version is available from now on.
If you happen to hate knitting nupps, you could try this:
when you have to work k7tog, just knit the first stitch of the “nupp set” and transfer the stitch back to left needle. Then pass the remaining yo’s and stitches of the “nupp set” over the knit stitch (one by one, starting with the closest yo to the knit stitch). The same idea works for ‘k7tog tbl’ as follows: first slip the first 6 stitches/yo’s of the “nupp set” onto right needle, then knit the last stitch. Now pass the slipped sts and yo’s over the knit stitch (one by one, starting with the closest yo to the knit stitch).
This way the nupps are still mirrored and there’s no pain of knitting all those stitches together - just slipping some stitches and yarn overs over one stitch.
