This 96 stitch ethnographic mitten is from the region of Alsunga in the District of Kurzeme, Latvia. The cuff uses a sequence of knit and purl rows and dates to the 18th Century. Six colors in all are needed for this mitten. The cuff is knit in three colors whereas the upper mitten is knit in two.
