This ethnographic mitten is from the Alsunga region of the District of Kurzeme, Latvia and is from the collection in the Liepaja Museum. The mitten uses a total of five colors with several three color bands in the cuff. The upper mitten is knit in two colors throughout. The graph for the upper mitten is known as Mara’s Cross or the Cross of Crosses - an old Latvian symbol.

Changes in needle size or yarn will produce varying sizes in the finished mitten. Check your gauge before casting on.
