This ethnographic stranded colorwork mitten is from the Nica region in the District of Kurzeme. The mitten requires a total of five colors. It begins with a picot edge that is followed by a sun rhombus, knit in two colors. Above the cuff, the upper mitten is knit in three and four colors throughout. Gauge your knitting in pattern before casting on. Changes in yarn or needles may result in changes in the size of the mittens.

Nica is located south of Liepaja, Latvia near the Baltic Sea. Mittens from this area are typically colorful with complex designs.
