This stranded colorwork mitten is from Rucava located in the District of Kurzeme. This mitten begins with picot edge that has a stranded design inside the cuff. The cuff uses two, three and four colors contemporaneously whereas the upper mitten uses two and three colors.

Rucava is located in the southwest corner of Latvia very near the Lithuanian border. This region is bounded on the west by the Baltic Sea. Many of the mittens of Rucava have a picot edge which lends them to being lined for additional warmth. Rucavas mittens are colorful - often with floral images.

Changes in yarn or needles may produce changes in the finished mitten size. Check your gauge in pattern before casting on.
