This ethnographic mitten is a fine example of the very fine gauge mittens from Rucavas, Latvia. The mitten has a total of 120 stitches which means that 40 stitches are carried on each of four needles. The cuff begins with a picot edge. It is knit in two and three colors. The upper mitten uses three and four colors throughout.

Changes in needles or yarn will produce a different gauge. Check your gauge before casting on.

Rucava sits in the southwest corner of Latvia near the Baltic Sea and the border with Lithuania.
