Kyler’s Kardigan a.k.a. The Wonderful Wallaby Top-Down Garter Stitch Cardigan for the Family

Kyler’s Kardigan is the result of many requests from knitters who wanted to knit the Wonderful Wallaby as a cardigan. So here is is, in sizes from Child size 2 to Adult XL. Knit in Garter Stitch, a wearer will find the sweater to be not just warm, but also very comfortable. You will find instructions for either a zippered or button closure, and a variation for a collar rather than a hood.

Materials and Sizes:

DK or worsted weight yarn

Child (Age and Chest measurement):

  • 2 (23’) | 550 yards
  • 4(25”) | 800yards
  • 6(28”) | 1000yards
  • 8(30”) | 1100 yards
  • 10 (32”) | 1200 yards

Adult (Size and Chest measurement)

  • Small | 1300 yards

  • Medium | 1400 yd

  • Large | 1550 yd

  • X-large | 1800 yd

  • XX-Large | 1950 yd

  • 24” or longer circular #6, #7, or #8 to attain gauge, another two sizes smaller.

  • Double-point needles in smaller size

  • Markers

  • Tapestry needle

  • 7-9 buttons or zipper

Gauge: 4.5 sts = 1” on larger ndl, 9 ridges – 2”
