La Scalinata is a shawl inspired by the beauty of the Mediterranean summers. It is meant to be a large, airy shawl that transmits the happiness of living near the sea and nature of a Mediterranean country, such as Italy (the homeland of UNFILODI- Knit House)who provided the yarn for the prototype and Greece (my own homeland) among many others.

Light is brighter than anywhere else and life rhythms seem to slow down to let us enjoy ourselves. Bursting colors surround us and these colors do mix and match under this bright sunlight in a very natural way. In fact, the reason why I named this shawl “La Scalinata” is because I was inspired by the colorful threshold of a small souvenir shop in a photo produced by Luisa de Angeli in one of our private talks. It is a shawl that I enjoyed knitting, the lace motif is easy to memorize and this makes it an ideal project on the go, so I hope you enjoy it as much!
