La Tice is elegant and romantic, modern yet classic.

Crocheted in joined rounds, the hat starts at the top with treble crochet, the laciest of the basic stitches.

Then comes the real lace: the striking lattice-stitch inset band. Discovered in a vintage craft magazine, the lattice stitch might seem intimidating at first glance. However, broken down into its component parts – simple chains, slip stitches and single crochet – it’s quite doable. And, in addition to the written instructions, the pattern includes a chart to help visualize what stitch goes where.

The cap finishes with a single-crochet border for a head-hugging fit.

Use a DK-weight yarn of your choice: Perhaps a silk-bamboo or cotton for a summery look or maybe a merino wool for a transitional accessory to take you from fall into winter – or winter into spring.

La Tice is sized for S, M and L (21-23 in./53-58 cm head circumferences).
