A seamed long cardigan with set-in slim fitting sleeves and a flattering lace shawl collar, designed to be worn open. Knit on a standard gauge knitting machine with punchcard facility and lace carriage. No ribber is required; a small hung hem completes the cuffs and lower edges of the cardigan.

Skills required: Increasing and decreasing, using hold position and wrapping sts, hanging a hem, using a lace carriage with punchcard, seaming.

Sizes: 72 (82, 92, 102, 112, 122)cm / 28 (32, 36, 40, 44, 48)”

Designed with approx 10cm/4” of ease built in. Choose a size above based on your actual bust measurement. Measurements in inches are approximate.

Yarn: Approximately sportweight/5ply, but you could use 3 or 4 ply/fingering for a lighter look as long as gauge is achieved. I used a sportweight alpaca/merino blend from YarnItaly (@Etsy) in grey and made a second in Bendigo Woollen Mills 5 ply classic in Harvest Gold using T10 on a Brother KH891.

Gauge: 24sts and 32 rows in st st = 10cm/4”

Yardage: 1800 (2150, 2300, 2475, 2800, 2970) metres. Finished weight will depend on your chosen yarn. My finished 92cm size cardigan in the alpaca/merino blend weighs 570g .
