New Pattern as of December 08
revised for clarity, mostly.

Well-fitting knee socks with a minimum of fussy calf & ankle shaping. This simple stitch pattern has lots of give to accomodate the calf, but hugs the ankle well with only minor shaping. They will not slide down & there’s no need to tug at them all the time. The lace pattern extends down the top of the foot to the toe. The foot, heel & toe are knit in reverse stockinette stitch.

This is a top down pattern, with an afterthought heel. A gusset style heel can easily be substituted. These were knit using two circular needles; however the pattern can easily be knit using your favorite method.

Yardage requirements vary according to foot & leg length. This is a slightly heavier than average sock yarn, but a finer yarn would produce a lacier fabric.

Pattern improvements are made possible by ladyfemme, a speedy, accurate & very kind test knitter!
