Who says socks are only for your feet? These fun fingerless mitts were created with the desire to sport some of my favorite striped sock yarn in a more wow-worthy place than stuffed inside my shoes. While the self striping nature of the yarn makes these mitts pop, the added lacy bits at the top edge of the fingers and thumb add just the right touch that takes them from simple to striking with a springtime flair!

Materials & Information~

Knitting Loom: This project was created on the EvenKnit Sock Loom by Décor Accents. This loom has a 5/16” spacing from one center of peg to the next, making it comparable to an extra fine gauge loom. The mitts were created using 52 pegs in the round, as well as 20 pegs in the round for the thumb section. This project can, however, be created using other adjustable looms of your choice, by applying the information included in the gauge section to convert the pattern specifically for your loom.

Yarn: Approx 250 yards of sock weight yarn. Vesper Sock Yarn in color “knit & tonic” was used in sample.

Notions: Tapestry Needle, Knitting tool, 4.5 mm crochet hook, stitch holder.

Gauge: 8 sts X 11 rows per inch in stockinette.

Size: 3.5” in width, 7” in circumference, 7.75” in length, 1” thumb height, 1.75” thumb width, 1.5” lace height.

Using these measurements, you can adjust the mitt’s stitches and rows to best match the fit you are creating.
