I love a classy, classic cardigan with a touch of vintage-feel.
And my favourite shaping of the upper body is the raglan.
We “inherited” the raglan-shaping from Lord Raglan, who was injured and lost his arm in the Battle of Waterloo.
I would love to think that his Lady was inspired by the Lords tailors invention of the raglan-shaping for her wardrobe, but I am not so sure about that. Anyway, it has inspired generations later on and it never really seems to go out of fashion.

This pattern is a tested pattern.
My testers worked wonderful garments and I am so happy about the results! I was also so pleased about their feed-back on the lace and the pattern.

Design and construction
This classic, classy cardigan features lace-panels on fronts, back and sleeves. The construction is completely seamless.
The lower body and sleeves are worked bottom-up to the underarms. The upper body is shaped by raglan-decreases and is worked in one piece over body and sleeves.
A special note on the collar: a couple of my testers chose to work a classic neck-line instead of the collar. This also turned out beautifully. The pattern gives instructions for both the collar and a traditional neck-band.

Materials
Yarn: I recommend that you use a fingering weight yarn with great stitch-definition. I used the fingering weight yarn,”Silky yak” from Fru Valborg, to work the cardigan. This yarn comes in skeins of 480 m/525 yards and 120 g/4.23 oz. You will need approximately 1100/1175/1250/1325/1400/1475/1550/1625/1700/1775/1850/
1950 m of this specific yarn to work the cardigan.
Needles: Choose needle size to obtain gauge. I used needle size 3 mm/US2.5; this is a suggestion only.
Notions: 4 removable stitch-markers, separate holders,
buttons 12.5 mm/0.5” across.

Gauge
26 sts and 34 - 36 rows/rounds in stockinette (and in the lace-pattern) = 10x10cm/4x4”.
