Lady Sansa Shawl

Discontinued. This digital pattern is no longer available online.

This pattern is currently being tested and will be released in 1-2 months.

This is a very simple and straightforward pattern. It can be knit on any size yarn and needle. I recommend using a needle 2 sizes bigger than the recommended size on the yarn label. There are instructions included to makes sure you use all your yarn and not run out before! There are written and charted instructions.

The lace pattern has only 2 rows so it’s easy to memorize the lace pattern.

This shawl design was inspired by Sansa Stark a character George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song of Fire and Ice’ and ‘A Game of Thrones’ on HBO.

In terms of the design the lace was designed with the intent that it would be delicate and airy and feminine. The border on both sides of the top of the shawl is designed with her parents in mind providing a protective barrier to keep her safe for most of her life. The construction of the shawl with the broken columns of lace preceded by stockinette as the stitches build for each pattern repeat represent all the various challenges and issues that she is forced to face once she reaches the red keep. The initial column of lace represents Arya Underfoot, her little sister, who is a constant thorn in her side.
