20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in Stockinette Stitch
US 4 - 3.5 mm
40 - 60 yards (37 - 55 m)

This pattern is available for free.

I have no idea how many yards this took, so that 40-60 yd thing is just a guess. it takes very very little, if that helps.
