This is a simple shawl knit from point to point in reverse stockinette st. This was initially designed as a nursing shawl, but I wear it all the time as an accessory. It is knit in a rather open, loose gauge, to create an airy feel to the shawl, so remember that if choosing an alternate yarn. I used all but around 5 yards of the yarn, so count on using the whole skein. It is a perfect choice for the one skein purchase of a color that you loved.

There is nothing complicated about this project. It is perfect for a tired, pregnant mother to make in the last couple weeks while waiting for that baby to make her appearance, or even can be knit in those first few weeks of a sleepy newborn’s life. It provides some cover while nursing, if desired, while still being light and attractive. This can be worn as a light shoulder shawl, a kerchief or head covering, used to cover baby to help minimize distraction, give mama some privacy while nursing, or give baby something to explore with his fingers instead of mama’s hair or shirt.
