Functionality and beauty.
A wrap is perfect to wear while walking the lakeshore in the Fall. The lake brings a breeze that you will need to have something over your shoulders. With jeans, you may want to wear this wrap as a vest instead.
By putting buttonholes all the way down one side of the wrap, you can easily move the fastener to make a secure wrap or a vest. By having a Jül screw type button you are secure to wear the Wrap or vest and not be afraid of it falling.
If you prefer to use regular buttons, I would attach the two buttons back to back with a space between to be able to button two or three layers together.
This pattern starts with a crochet cast on to match the bind off so both edges look the same.
