US size 7 (4.5mm) needles are fine if you knit tightly, otherwise use US size 6 (4.0mm)

Clarification: The ear yarn ends should be tied to each other, not to the ends from the other ear.

The lamb should be stuffed a bit at a time as it is knitted.
