Lattice Cable Owl Chart by Melissa Friedlund

Lattice Cable Owl Chart

This chart can be used to add a slip-stitch cable owl motif to any knitting project. Alternating working yarn color every row will produce the effect seen in the sample pic. This works best for circular knitting & instructions include how to cast on to make a closed ended tube (for scarf) or square (hot pad) using two circs. If flat knitting & the two color effect is desired, the working yarns will need to be new for every row…basically like intarsia colorwork.

If you want to use this on socks, you will need 34 sts across to produce the motif as written.

This is my own version of lattice cables. Cables are worked in the usual manner. The “magic” happens on the resting rows.

Cabling without a cable needle works REALLY well here because you only ever have 1 stitch off the needle.

Techniques: Circular knitting with two circs, cables, three needle bind off (optional), eyelets (optional)
