Lavedia (La-VEE-duh) is a simple baby dress with an elegant woven waist band and multi-colored edging at the skirt hem, neckline and arm holes. It makes a beautiful warm weather frock, but it would be equally as practical as a colder-weather dress when paired with a long-sleeved onesie and tights.

“Intermediate” techniques used:
• Decreases (K2tog, modified SSK)
• Slipping stitches
• Working with 2 different colors in a row
• Picking up stitches at the neckline & arm holes and for the button band
• Creating a simple Yarn Over button hole
• Working In-The-Round (Skirt & Woven Empire Waist Band)
• Working Flat (Bodice after it is divided at the arm holes)
• Grafting a small number of stitches together to seam shoulders with Kitchener Stitch
• Alternating (K1, P1) Cast-on - pattern includes a link to a video tutorial demonstration. If you’re not up for learning a new cast-on, long-tail is a fine substitute.

The Yarn:
One fingering weight Plum Panda Gradient Kit from June Pryce Fiber Arts in the “Shabby Chic” colorway. 600 yds total packaged in six 100-yd skeins 150 g total weight, 60% Merino / 30% Bamboo / 10% Nylon

Colors D & E: 32 (34, 38, 40) yds each
Color F: 56 (60, 66, 70) yds

US Size 4 / 3.5mm circular needle
US Size 4 / 3.5mm dpns (for joining shoulders)

Instructions are fully written out (no charts) and a detailed schematic is included.

The fit of this dress is based on the fit of the woven band. Band circumferences are based on an “average” baby’s chest size, but your baby may need a band size larger or smaller than their “age size”, so please compare their chest measurement to the schematic. It is very easy to make an arm hole opening or a skirt longer or shorter if you work the size with the correct woven band circumference.

While working the woven band instructions, please make sure to have a very relaxed tension with the yarn being used for the horizontal woven stitches. This section will only stretch as far as the woven yarn allows, so make sure the woven yarn has enough slack to allow knit stitches to stretch a bit.

Special thank yous go out to the three ladies who did a fantastic job test knitting this pattern! Kcatt79, Babbett, & momma2five2014, I appreciate all the time and effort you put into this project!

Thank you also to Cheryl & Jenn at June Pryce Fiber Arts who supported this project and allowed me to include it in my Color Packs & Stash Scraps collection!
