Associated with French Lavande, Italian Lavanda “a washing” (from Latin Lavare “to wash”), because it was used to scent washed fabrics and as a bath perfume. An identical Middle English word meant “laundress, washerwomen”.

Named for the sudsy texture in the lace and for the inspiration of a good spring cleaning. The Lavender hat begins by casting on straight transitioning to being worked in the round by picking up stitches along the edges of previously worked rows. It has a quick and chunky lace pattern that spreads out over the brim with a highly textured underside that adds interest and depth to the pattern. The DK yarn means that the beret works up relatively quickly creating a lovely beret perfect for wearing during the transition from winter to spring weather.
