150-180 yards #4 Squid Worsted in “Bryna” or “Caroline”, or substitute with #3 Bernat Baby Sport in color of choice
Yarn needle
Scissors
Stitches Used:
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
BPsc = back post single crochet
BPhdc = back post half double crochet
Additional Terms:
Picot: ch 2, sl st back into first st
3dc cluster: YO, insert hook into stitch, pull up a loop, YO, draw through 2 loops (1st stitch of cluster made), YO, insert hook into same st, pull up a loop, YO draw through 2 loops (2nd st of cluster made), YO, insert hook into same st, pull up a loop, YO draw through 2 loops (3rd st of cluster made), YO, draw through all loops on hook.
st/sts = stitch/stitches
sp/sps = space/spaces
sk = skip
Measurements:
Adult (84 sts): 10” wide by 7 3/4” tall
Child (76 sts): 9 1/2” wide by 7” tall
Toddler (72 sts): 9” wide by 6 1/4” tall
12 mos (68 sts): 8 1/2” wide by 5 1/2” tall
Gauge:
Measures 6 1/4” across after round 9. 16 hdc in 4”
Additional Notes:
-Ch 1 at beginning of round does not count as a stitch.
-This hat is worked in multiples of 4.
-Substitute the #4 hand-dyed yarn with #3 Bernat Baby Sport if you wish. They have a nearly identical gauge
