A simple shawlette pattern created to highlight handspun yarn. The sample shawl was made from beautiful bfl/silk fiber dyed by Pigeonroof Studios in the Lazy Daisy colorway.

Increases on both the right and wrong side rows create a shawl that has a wider wingspan and less depth than a typical triangular shawl. This shape can be worn comfortably as a scarf or neckerchief. Sample measures 56 in x 18 in.

Of course, you don’t have to use handspun to make this shawlette. Any weight would work, just note that yardage will vary.

Note: the scalloped edge is achieved during blocking. Use pins to create points across the edge of the shawl. These scallops can be dramatic or subtle, depending upon how severely the fabric is stretched.
