A unisex triangular scarf/kerchief knitted in DK weight yarn.

The shawl is approx. 53 inches in width and 15” from center back to center point, when blocked aggressively. A single skein of DK weight yarn will yield a kerchief size.

This pattern could easily be made with fingering to worsted weight yarn. By simply adding more repeats of the stockinette and garter ribbed eyelet sections, you can make a kerchief or shawl as large as you wish. Note that yardage requirements will vary with different yarn weights.

note about YO increases

to create a YO between a knit and a purl: bring the yarn to the front, then over the right hand needle (YO) and then back to the front to purl.

to create a YO between a purl and a knit: the yarn is starting out in the front - you bring it up over the right hand needle, making a YO and setting up the yarn in the back for the next knit stitch.
