I am trying to come to terms with cables and twists currently and this pattern has a variety of both in it which looked like good practice. The headband is inspired by a stich pattern found in “250 creative knitting stitches - volume 4 (the harmony guides)”.

Although the result looks intricate, it’s a fast knit. Very pleased with it as it not only holds back my hair but is also wide enough to cover my ears - the next burst of winter may be upon us soon.
