This is a basic sock pattern suitable for beginners. It is designed so that you can use it with both solid coloured yarns and variegated yarns.

The socks are excellent for wearing around the winter as the thicker fabric created by the DK yarn is cushy and warm. The sock features a comfortable rolled edge, spiralling rib leg, short row heel and toe, and no grafting. That’s right, knit top down, but no Kitchener stitch!

The rolled edge and spiralling rib create a soft fabric that is firm enough to stay up without being too tight. The sock itself is soft and cushy, being worked in 8ply (DK) yarn, and it is stretchy enough to be a comfortable sock perfect for lounging around at home.

It’s quick to knit too - I managed to knit 2 socks over 2 nights in front of the tv.
