This pattern was originally written as a mini-workshop for North Georgia Knitting Guild’s Beat the Heat Retreat in July of 2012.

Project requires casting on (Judy’s Magic Cast-on preferred), working in double-knitting, grafting hem closed (to make casing), and cords.

Note: The .pdf is formatted to print as a 5.5 x 8.5-inch booklet, if you print two pages per 8.5 x 11-inch piece of paper and print double-sided. If you are viewing the .pdf on an e-reader, you will want to reorder the pages. (On a Mac, you should be able to reorder the pages by opening in Preview and dragging the pages into the order you desire.) Except for the first page and the booklet cover, a page number appears at the bottom center of each page.

Because this is a small project, you can get several of them out of two skeins of kitchen cotton. If you are doing this as a guild project, you can probably make up about 14 kits from four skeins of Lily Sugar’n Cream. Just wind off yardage on a swift or niddy noddy, and give each person two different colors.
