The Leonardo Illusion knit has been inspired by the self portrait created by the artist. His original is a subtle, chalk work so this illusion knit is really an experiment in how subtle the design can be and still work as an illusion.
The piece is designed to be viewed from the side and measures 48cm wide by 70cm high so can be used as a hanging or as the centre of a bedspread or cover.
The final photograph here shows the piece when viewed from directly in front.
September 2013 Update
The pattern now includes an extra chart intended for tablet users but others may find it helpful. You can view 20 ridges at a time and always be able to see the numbers across the bottom of the chart. Never lose your place again!
