The easiest way to get a one-of-a-kind pair of solefull socks is to let a gorgeous long-repeat or no-repeat variegated yarn form layers of color while you knit along in plain stockinette stitch. The layers don’t even have to match on the two socks. The same colors will appear on each sock but the segments will be in different places. The real magic happens when you put the socks on, because those parallel strata will morph into surprising undulations of color around your toe and instep.
