Exceedingly snuggly in Malabrigo Yarn’s Chunky, the Leticia Cowl provides generous coverage and warmth without being constrictive. Break out those large, eye-catching buttons that you’ve been saving for just the right project!

Most of these cables can be easily worked without a cable needle, and Leticia can be combined with any of other pieces in The Virescent Collection to create a coordinating set.

This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.

Recommended Yarn:
Malabrigo Yarn Chunky, three skeins — 100% merino — 104 yds (95 m) to 100 g. Shown in colorway Lettuce. Sample used approximately 310 yds (283 m).

Sizing:
8” (20 cm) x 62” (157.5 cm), unbuttoned — buttoned circumference is 59.5” (151 cm).

Gauge:
20 sts and 20 rows to 4” in cable pattern, centered over large motif, washed and blocked. (Gauge may seem tight, but remember that cables do pull in fabric significantly.)

Needles:
US 10 (6 mm) and US 10.5 (6.5 mm) needles, straight or circular.

PLEASE NOTE: I knit very tightly. I actually used US 10.5 (6.5 mm) and US 10.75 (7 mm) needles for my cowl, but knitters who are typically “on gauge” will likely wish to use US 10 (6 mm) and US 10.5 (6.5 mm) needles. Very loose knitters may wish to use US 9 (5.5 mm) and US 10 (6 mm) needles. Changes in gauge will affect finished size and amount of yarn used.

Other Materials:
One stitch marker, cable needle in appropriate size, tapestry needle, thread, three large buttons (mine are 1.5”/38 mm at their widest point).

I purchased these buttons (made from a tree branch) from Wooden Treasures on Etsy.

Skills Needed:
Cabling, ribbing

With many thanks to Malabrigo Yarn for their support!
