Knitting and doll-making perfectly combined!

With this pattern you can create the Mariengold doll Letti yourself.

The e-book contains knitting instructions and patterns for a 25 to 28 large doll as well as for her clothing.

Letti is a simple doll with a knitted body like it is well-known and popular mainly in the Waldorf community, interpreted here in a modern way with a twist and the signature of Mariengold. The doll can be worked in two different ways: either with arms and legs or only with arms and a small pouch instead of the legs.

Letti is suitable for very small children. The head is made like the head for a Waldorf doll, but I simplified the technique so that it will be easy to work for beginners as well. The doll can even be made with a neck and I came up with a simple way of working that part.

It was important to me that the knitted body stays as ingeniously simple as the original. At the same time, I wanted to refine the form and changed the measurements and proportions a bit, using short rows and decreases. No worries, this will all be explained in the pattern!

Letti has pronounced hands and feet and even has a small thumb. Eyes and mouth are embroidered, the hair is crocheted and knotted with mohair yarn. For those who don’t have much time or practice, there is a simpler version, with facial features painted on and a hat sewn to the head.

The doll is warmly dressed with a pointed hat with ties, a headband that can also be worn as a scarf, a pair of dungarees and a dress with large pockets.

Knitted dolls such as Letti are suitable for children from 1,5 years.

LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY AND REQUIREMENTS

The instructions for Letti are suitable for beginners in knitting as well as doll-making.

Basic sewing techniques are explained at the beginning of the pattern, everything else is shown and explained in the pattern in detail.

The pattern assumes that you have basic knitting skills for the body and crochet skills for the hair cap.

NOTES ON COPYRIGHT

I didn’t invent Letti’s knitted body, it has been common knowledge for many decades, especially in the Waldorf community. Patterns can be found for example in “Spielzeug von Eltern selbstemacht” by Freya Jaffke (title of the English version: “Toymaking With Children), from 1973 or “Das Puppenbuch” – The book of dolls in English – by Karin Neuschutz from 1982.

For this reason, Letti’s knitted body is not protected by copyright and can be used beyond using it for private purposes – even though I made changes to the knitting pattern which distinguish it from the original pattern.

All other aspects of Letti, the clothing and the pattern itself with all texts, pictures and the sewing pattern are copyrighted by me and it is not allowed to reproduce them or use them for commercial purposes. This means that you can use this eBook to create however many dolls you want and give them to your children, grandchildren, friends, family members or neighbors. If you want to sell the dolls or use them for teaching, you can purchase an appropriate extension of use directly from me.

Das eBook beinhaltet Anleitung und Schnittmuster für eine 25 bis 28 cm große Puppe sowie ihre Kleidung.

Letti ist eine einfache Puppe mit einem Strickkörper, wie er vor allem in Waldorfkreisen seit Jahrzehnten bekannt und beliebt ist, hier modern interpretiert mit einem Twist und der Handschrift von Mariengold. Die Puppe kann in zwei Varianten anfertigt werden: als Gliederpuppe mit Armen und Beinen oder als Schlamperle mit einem Säckchen anstelle der Beine.

Letti ist bereits für ganz kleine Kinder geeignet. Der Kopf wird nach Waldorfart gefertigt, jedoch mit einer stark vereinfachten Technik, so dass er auch Anfängerinnen leicht gelingen wird. Die Puppe kann sogar mit Hals gemacht werden, auch dafür habe ich mir etwas ganz Simples einfallen lassen.

Für den Strickkörper war mir wichtig, dass er so genial einfach bleibt wie beim Original. Gleichzeitig wollte ich die Form verfeinern und habe deshalb die Maße und Proportionen ein wenig verändert und verkürzte Reihen und Abnahmen eingearbeitet. Aber keine Sorge, das wird in der Anleitung genau erklärt.

Letti hat gut ausgeprägte Hände und Füße, sogar mit kleinen Daumen. Augen und Mund werden gestickt, das Haar aus Mohairgarn gehäkelt und geknüpft. Für ganz Eilige oder Ungeübte gibt auch Vereinfachungen mit aufgemalten Gesichtsmerkmalen und ohne Haar, dafür mit festgenähter Mütze.

Gekleidet und gewärmt wird die Puppe durch eine Mütze mit Zipfel und Bindebändern, ein Haarband, das auch als Schal getragen werden kann, und eine Latzhose und ein Kleid mit großen Taschen.

Strickpuppen wie Letti sind für Kinder ab 1,5 Jahren geeignet.

SCHWIERIGKEITSGRAD UND VORAUSSETZUNGEN

Die Herstellung von Letti ist sehr gut für Anfängerinnen sowohl im Stricken als auch im Puppenmachen geeignet.

Grundtechniken des Nähens werden am Anfang erläutert und alles Weitere ausführlich in der Anleitung dargestellt und erklärt.

Einfache Strickkenntnisse für den Körper sowie Häkelkenntnisse für das Haarkäppchen werden jedoch vorausgesetzt.

Den Strickkörper von Letti habe nicht ich erfunden, sondern er ist schon seit vielen Jahrzehnten bekannt und vor allem in Waldorfkreisen im Umlauf. Anleitungen finden sich u.a. in „Spielzeug von Eltern selbstgemacht“ (Erstauflage 1973) sowie „Das Puppenbuch“ von Karin Neuschütz (Erstauflage 1982).

Ihr dürft mit dem eBook also so viele Puppen herstellen, wie ihr möchtet und sie an eure Kinder, Enkelkinder, Freundinnen, Familie, Nachbarinnen usw. verschenken.
