Designated intangible cultural heritage of Croatia by UNESCO, licitar literally means “gingerbread.” The centuries-old tradition of making these colorful cookies is still practiced by families who have passed the secret recipe and process down through generations. Most common is the heart, and they are seen by the thousands on Valentine’s Day, at weddings, and at Christmas time. It takes over a month to prepare the gingerbreads, but my Licitar pattern is much quicker! And since it uses embroidery instead of icing, it will last much longer.

This pattern includes a stuffed and embroidered heart as well as the plain heart coasters you see in the pictures! All hearts are felted.

Includes photo tutorials for hand felting, embroidery using the included stitch template, German short rows, chain stitch, and blanket stitch!

About my project

This has been a tough few years for many. Me too. And one thing that’s gotten me through is giving people I care about small gifts. Let’s face it: big projects are beyond what many of us want to do right now. But small bits of knitted love are so manageable, and they’re so satisfying when finished and gifted. And even moreso when they’re made from oddments.

And I wanted to share that lovely feeling with you, because we all have those stray bits and pieces of yarn here and there. They’re different weights and different colors. Some are a full skein. Some are just leftover tidbits, but you can’t throw them away! Definitely not a sweater’s worth of any one color or yarn, let alone a shawl’s worth or even a full pair of socks or mitts. You can’t imagine what to do with them, but you don’t want to part with them. Well. This is the book for you! 15 patterns to turn your scraps into loving bits of kindness that will brighten your friends’ and loved ones’ day.

The patterns for this eBook will be delivered to subscribers within a subscription period ending February 15, 2022 (delayed a bit). There is no specific delivery time for each pattern; the goal is to release at least the majority of patterns in 2021. But because life has been fairly unpredictable of late, I want to make sure you all understand that it may take until February 15, 2022 (delayed a bit) to deliver them all. All patterns will have charts (if needed) and written instructions, and you will be able to make them out of oddments. These are small projects, not big ones: the perfect size for a cozy evening or two of stitching in front of the fire.

Note that purchasing the eBook represents a significant discount over purchasing each pattern separately. No refunds can be given for buying the patterns separately and then, at a later date, purchasing the complete eBook. If you have made a single pattern purchase in error and wished to purchase the book instead, please contact me within a week to resolve the issue. Thank you!
