It can be difficult to get the proportion of textured stitches right with mottled yarn. In these mitts, large-scale cables keep variegation from overwhelming fabric texture. The cuffs of the Licorice Twist mitts are knit sideways, and then stitches are picked up and worked from bottom to top in the round.
