This is not an original pattern, but a guide (in keeping with my Lifestyle socks, no swatch needed guide) - to empowerment! Knit any kind of hat, with any kind of yarn, any size needle.
The top-down theme is a boon to indecisive hat makers (knit for a while, see that the yarn tells you!) Top down is also wonderful for handspun, you can stop the hat when you run out of yarn.
