The Lightning Strike hat is a super bulky quick knit … perfect for that special skein of yarn you didn’t know what to do with. It knits up super fast and will make the perfect warm winter hat or last minute gift!

What you will need:

• Yarn – 110g Superbulky weight Yarn (approx. 90m/100 yds); Yarn used in sample – Oh Loops Super Bulky Merino in Miranda Colourway (100g – 82yd/75m)
• Needles – 9mm (US13) 40” circular for knitting magic loop, or double pointed needles (DPNs).
• Notions
o 1 Stitch Marker for marking the beginning of the round
o A tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
• Gauge – Approximately 2.5 sts/inch in the main body pattern, un-stretched.
• Size –Adult finished hat circumference approximately 44cm/17 inches

Abbreviations:

CO - Cast on
sts - Stitches
K - Knit stitch
P - Purl stitch
KFB - Knit into the front and back of the same stitch (1 stitch inc)
RT - This is a 2 stitch Right Twist - Knit two stitches together leaving stitches on the needle, insert Right Hand needle between stitches just worked and knit the first stitch again, slip both stitches from needle together.
LT - This is a 2 stitch Left Twist – Skip first stitch (leave on Left Hand needle) and knit the second stitch in the back loop, then knit the skipped stitch in the front loop, slip both stitches from needle
together.
K2tog - Knit 2 stitches together (1 stitch decrease)
