Construction
The top is crocheted in a main color, starting from waist working back and forth to arm-pits. The top is then divided into front right, back and front left. Neckline/front stripe is crocheted afterwards in contrast colors. Switch to knitting needles and work the simple garter stitch skirt with short rows. Skirt is sewn to top.

Yarn
This pattern is perfect for using up scraps or partial skeins of any sports weight yarn. The pattern gives you an overall instruction on how to make the skirt, but you need to decide what colors to use and in which order.

For the top you need about 80 yards of the main color and about 170 yards for the skirt and front stripe. Use as many contrast colors as you like.

Size
Waist circumference = 33cm (13’’). Length = 30cm (11¾ ‘’). Should fit a newborn.
Gauge crochet, 5x5cm (2x2’’) = 13sc and 14 rows.
Gauge knitting, 13 top ridges = 5cm, one row = approx 19cm. The skirt is really stretchy, so unless you are miles off the gauge, don’t worry.
