I wanted to design a modern take on fair-isle. Serendipitously I was invited to visit a post modern manufacturer of hand painted pottery and accessories about 40 miles north of my home on the east side of Cayuga Lake. The Lily Mitts and Lily Tam are the result of that excursion.

Worked in the round from the I-cord cast-on and corrugated ribbed cuff to the fingers and the I-cord bind-off, this 3-color set of fingerless mitts is worked up in fair isle knitting with just a few beads. It contains charted and line-by-line instructions.

You will need two size US1.5/2.5mm needles for a small or two size US2/2.75mm 24” circular needles for a medium. US3 for a large.

Both the Lily Tam and matching Lily Fingerless Mitts can be worked from a total of one skein of each color.
