Lily is one of my dogs. When the weather cooperates we walk around the path at the local park. I have long admired the structure of an older house we pass by on our walk. Not long ago it struck me that the lattice design would be perfect for a shawl design so I started experimenting until I was able to (sort of) reproduce it.

Testured diagonals on each side slant toward the straight lace center. The end result is Lily’s Lattice.

It’s a simple six row repeat pattern after an initial six row set-up. The center lattice pattern is worked the same on both sides so is easily memorized. The side diagonals are worked on only one side with a simple k3, p3 repeat pattern that grows by 4 on each right side row but are worked in plain knit or purl on the non-patterned rows.

The bind off is done using a 3 stitch garter pattern which is worked perpendicular to the edge and joined as it is worked.
