Last April, my son asked me to make a handpuppet for his playtime with my granddaughter. At first I didn’t know where to start…but his request was specific - the lion in Madagascar movie. I looked at photos and excerpts of the movie…and carefully constructed this handpuppet from yarns that I already have. (I didn’t have the right color for the mouth and cheeks, so I dyed the yarn with turmeric powder!)
I’ve written down the pattern, since I won’t be able to make this again from memory. Also this will be my guide in making the other animal handpuppets (which my son also wants for my granddaughter who is so fond of these characters), should I be inspired to do so :p .
As of now I also finished the hippo handpuppet…but I didn’t take the time to write down the pattern. I based the construction from this pattern, and just proceeded and tried to finish it and get if off my project table since it was already overwhelming me. Honestly, I came to adore the characters I made and kinda miss them…but most of all I miss my granddaughter, since I don’t see her often.
