I found the pattern by Berroco so nice that I wanted to make something else with it than just a poncho…so I came up with a pattern to make it into a beautiful top. The sizing depends on the length of the starting chain and wich size of hook is used. For example: A size 4 hook with the shortest startingchain makes for a size S. A size 5 hook with the shortest startingchain makes for a size M. Also the sort of yarn makes if it is stretchable (acrylic) or not (cotton).

The standard pattern is for a top with capped sleeves, but the sleeves can easily be made into short sleeves. Also the length of the top is easily made longer. You can also easily change the width at the bottom as it depends on the yarntype you are using how many increases are nessecary.

The variegated examples are made with acrylic yarn and take up 3 to 4 balls of 100 gr with 260 metres length, using hooksize 5. These are size S/M and standard model.

The green example is made with cotton yarn and takes up 7 to 8 balls of 50 gr with 125 metres length, using hooksize 4. This one is size L/XL and made longer and with short sleeves.

This top can also be made for size XXL/XXXL, just do a starting chain of 144 and follow the pattern for XL up to the armholes round. Skip 5 shells for the armholes, proceed with the pattern for XL.

The pattern is in US crochet terms and I would classify it as intermediate level.

Thanks to my patterntesters I am sure there are no flaws in the pattern. So I hope you will enjoy making the top and I look forward to seeing your photos!
