This women’s lightweight tee is knit from the top (neck) down to the lower hem. It is worked in the round, as are the short sleeves. The yoke is shaped with concentric increases, interspersed with a sunburst
lace motif. Note that the lace motifs are presented in chart form ONLY.

Sample is knit in a soft, garment-spun cotton with 180 yards/50 gram balls. You will need 4 (5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 8, 9) balls to knit pattern as written. Choose a fingering-weight yarn with limited halo if choosing to utilize a different yarn base.

Litha or the summer solstice is usually celebrated around June 21st, although the actual astronomical date varies slightly. Solstice means “standstill” and this refers to the way the sun appears to rise and set in the same place for a few days on the eastern and western horizons. The magical power of fire to represent the sun was the focus of most midsummer celebrations, with bonfires and candles lit to represent the
sun’s importance.
